FanRoll - For the Love of Gaming

Writer: Kelsey SalleeKelsey Sallee

For those of you who don’t know, we currently source all of our dice from FanRoll by Metallic Dice Games and they have been supportive of our mission from the start! Check out their website here and use code BRACERS10 to get 10% off! We promise they have something for everyone…

We recently got the chance to interview two members of the FanRoll team. Neal Hoffman is the current owner of FanRoll, and Adam Hackett is the founder of the company.

How did Metallic Dice Games get its start?

Adam - I started Metallic Dice Games as a college student at Indiana University. Growing up in Indiana, I attended Gen Con and realized there was a lack of metal dice in the market at the time. As a business student, I decided to work with factories to develop metal dice to introduce to the gaming market, hence the name Metallic Dice Games. After the metal dice were well received, we grew into dice of all sorts of materials.

How did Metallic Dice Games transition into FanRoll?

Neal - I purchased the company from Adam last year and loved the incredible quality of products he had. My goal was to build on that with a lineup that tapped into all different Fandoms and therefore needed a name that reflected that. After a lot of brainstorming, we came up with FanRoll which honors both our fans and our heritage rolling.

What makes FanRoll unique from other dice sellers?

Neal - We have three pillars; Quality, Innovation and Properties. You will see that FanRoll is leading the way with cutting edge products never seen in tabletop before. One good example of this is our Shadowlight trays that have black lights embedded in them and use reactive dice that glow. We love pushing the envelope.

What is your vision for the company moving forward?

Neal - We have to be the premium tabletop accessory company for fans.

What is your favorite dice set personally?

Adam - My personal favorite dice set is our Vanishing Oil liquid core set!

We especially love your unicorn dice...how did you settle on that design?

Adam - We found a very fine glitter that seemed to change colors and sparkle as it hit the light. We knew we were going to use this glitter in some of our dice, and after brainstorming with our team, we thought adding unicorns to the d20's would be the perfect way to feature this new glitter!

What do you love most about the gaming community?

Neal - I love how welcoming people in the community are! Everyone has a slight variation of the same passion and is thrilled to find other people to share it with.
